Ellen grew up in South Wales surrounded by music, her mother being a renowned concert harpist, and the rest of the family involved with music in some way or other! Having recently released her debut EP Skylark, and enjoyed a second nationwide tour supporting Rhydian, Ellen is currently touring the UK with dance theatre company Sweetshop Revolution, for a series of concerts portraying the life of Morfydd Llwyn Owen.
Since returning from Washington DC and New York, where Ellen gave a recital for the St. David’s Day celebrations in the USA last year, Ellen has performed at the Wales Millennium Centre, at Lord’s Cricket Ground, and in a Spring celebration concert for the Fishguard International Music Festival. She has shared the concert stage with Wynne Evans and Catrin Finch and sang the part of The Minstrel in the Welsh premier of Karl Jenkins’ The Bards of Wales, conducted by the composer himself and sharing the platform with Dennis O’Neil and Rebecca Evans. Ellen has appeared many times on Welsh television and radio and enjoyed performing at the Daily Post’s 20th Anniversary Concert of Carols from Llandudno, broadcast on S4C on Christmas Eve.
Having gained a BA Honours in Spanish and French from the University of Exeter, and enjoyed a year furthering her Spanish studies at the Universidad de Oviedo in Northern Spain, Ellen is currently studying with Suzanne Murphy at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, supported by the Arts Council of Wales.
