Amy Wadge, is one of the UK’s most prolific contemporary songwriters. Having moved from her hometown of Bristol to study in Wales, she found herself at the heart of a hugely dynamic music scene, twice winning Best Female Artist at the Welsh Music Awards. The first time she did so, she won ahead of Charlotte Church and the second, ahead of Cerys Matthews!
Amy toured the length and breadth of the UK, across Europe, in the US and Down Under, releasing five solo albums, various EPs and three collaborative albums with other artists along the way. Amy continues to tour regularly. Since becoming a mother however, Amy’s main focus has been on writing.
Over recent years, she has accumulated numerous cuts with emerging artists such as Lewis Watson, (Warner), Shannon Saunders, (Caroline) and Cyril Hahn, (PMR). She is currently co-writing with both new and established talent alike including; Janelle Monáe, Birdy, Keith Urban, Ms. Dynamite, Aquilo, Zak Abel, Dua Lipa, Aston Merrygold, Mahalia,Thomas J Speight and many more.
Amy’s most notable success to date comes from her long established writing partnership with, Ed Sheeran. Thinking Out Loud, was the third single from Ed’s second album, the triple Grammy nominated, X, (Multiply). It went to No. 1 in the UK chart in November 2014 after spending 19 weeks in the Top 40, breaking the record for the longest ever ascent to the peak position. The track went platinum later that month and returned to the No. 1 spot for a second time in December 2014. It also held the No. 1 position for five weeks in Australia where it achieved triple platinum sales as well as topping the charts in many other territories.
Amy and Ed have known each other since he was seventeen. Together, they co-wrote his early EP, Songs I Wrote With Amy and a number of other songs including, Gold Rush, which featured on the deluxe edition of Ed’s, multi-million selling, debut album, +, (Plus). Amy also co-wrote the track, Even My Dad Does Sometimes, on the deluxe edition of X. Their next track together is the hotly anticipated co-write with Martin Garrix, Rewind Repeat It, which is due for release in 2015.
Amy first came to prominence as a singer songwriter in her own right.
